About
Alexan Petrovan
Alexan Petrovan was born in a small village in Maramureș, Romania, where winters were long and stories were longer.
He studied literature in Cluj before moving to Bucharest, and later returned to the hills that raised him. His first novel, The Shadow of the Mountain, was shortlisted for the Romanian Writers’ Union Prize. He writes fiction, essays, and occasional letters.
His work moves between memory and myth, between the archive and the kitchen table. He believes, quietly, that books should feel like weather — arriving when they must, lingering as they like.
